Nutritionally Speaking is a full-service food and nutrition company founded in Newark, Delaware, in 1995. We offer private practice, commercial food and nutrition services, in addition to programs for groups, individuals, and corporate clients. Our corporate office is in Dover, Delaware; our private practice is located in Delaware’s three counties: New Castle, Kent, and Sussex. We work with primary care physicians, endocrinologists, and other health care professionals through referrals regarding diabetes, eating disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, and other nutrition related health issues.

MEET
ROBIN R. HAYES
Robin Hayes is the founder and directing Dietitian/Diabetes Educator at Nutritionally Speaking, Delaware’s only independent nutrition consulting firm. Nutritionally Speaking is comprised of several private practice locations, provides food safety surveillance and inspection services and educational, seminar, and training programs. Ms. Hayes received her B.S. in Human Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and her Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics from the University of Florida, Gainesville. She has since earned Certified Diabetes Educator status from the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
Ms Hayes has designed the nutrition curriculum for grades K through 12 for the State of Delaware and has coordinated and led efforts in several innovative community programs to assist at-risk communities in addressing diabetes in a comprehensive way. She has testified before Delaware’s State Legislature regarding issues of diabetes advocacy as well. Ms. Hayes has received several awards, is quoted regularly in local media, and has served as an advisor and a consultant for the food service component of several local public and private institutions.

A dietitian, medical dietitian, or dietician is an expert in identifying and treating disease-related malnutrition and in conducting medical nutrition therapy, for example designing an enteral tube feeding regimen or mitigating the effects of cancer cachexia.
A certified diabetes educator is a health care professional who is specialized and certified to teach people with diabetes how to manage their condition. The CDE is an asset for those who need to learn the tools and skills necessary to control their blood sugar and avoid long-term complications due to hyperglycemia.
The diabetes care and education specialist (DCES) delivers comprehensive and seamless services that bridge the gap and integrate clinical and self-management aspects of diabetes and cardio metabolic care. The DCES is an integral part of the interprofessional team and provides collaborative, comprehensive and person-centered care, and education conducive to behavior change and improved quality of life across the lifespan. The DCES supports and advocates for people affected by diabetes to optimize quality care. The DCES promotes self-management to achieve individualized behavioral and treatment goals that reduce risks and optimize health outcomes.
Dietitians and nutritionists are both nutrition experts who have studied how diet and dietary supplements can
affect your health. Both are considered to be healthcare professionals, but the titles should not be used
interchangeably. Dietitians tend to have more education and credentials.

With your permission, we will obtain the following information on your behalf:
- An order from the referring provider – includes provider’s name, National Provider Identifier, diagnosis, insurance information (primary and secondary)
- Last progress note with labs and meds
- Your insurance company may require a referral from the provider’s office which is a special communication between the referring provider’s office and the insurance company. We would require the generated authorization number.
Please allow 10 business days after receipt of ALL the above required information for full verification.
We will then call you to make your first appointment.
Both in-person and virtual visits are available, pending insurance benefit verification.
